Monday was a good day. Tuesday started off bad and then wound up pretty good. I tried to do my cup exercise but could not open my hand enough to get around the cup so I stopped doing the exercise and went on to weight-bearing for my hand. After doing this exercise for a few minutes I went back to the cups and was able to open my hand sufficiently to grasp the cup and let it go and finish the exercise.
Today started off great then went a little bad but then got better again. Today was my day to do the coin exercise. When I started doing this I actually picked up 25 coins in a row the correct way! That is, I picked up coins with the tip of my index finger and the tip of my thumb only and put them in a cup. However, the second and third sets of this exercise were not as easy as the first. My hand tightened up again and I had to go back to weight-bearing before finishing the exercise.
As you can see rehabilitation is very much like a roller coaster. Everything goes from up to down, good to bad, good to bad, to good. This is one of the frustrations of trying to get better and it's something we all must push through every time we confront it because people who stay motivated make progress.
