Here is a good quote from Roger Crawford:

Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.

So everybody we have a choice here.  Be intimidated by your stroke or meet it head on and defeat it.  And here we have more choices.  And either one is acceptable in my mind.  You can choose to live with your stroke and any deficits you have.  Or you can decide to meet the challenge with a fight!  Either way you can win as long as you believe in your decision and are happy with it. For me, the choice is,  I won't go down without a fight!  What's your choice?

BE HAPPY

2/20/2015

Today's post is just some words of wisdom from Helen Keller.

Be happy with what you have while working for what you want.

All of us has at least one thing to be happy about. For instance, if you're reading this you can be happy about being alive. But if you're not. Think of all the people less fortunate than you ( I hate that phrase, but it's true).  There are courageous people out there who have diseases that prevents them from ever getting better. We as stroke survivors have the chance to reverse most of the damage caused by our strokes. As long as we're willing to work hard. And that my friends is another thing that I'm happy about!

Libido

I was hoping someone out there could help me. Since my stroke I have had a loss of libido. Actually, it's only been in the last year or so since it's happened. Which seems strange since I'm 6 years out from my stroke. I would've thought it would have happened sooner than later. Maybe the drugs I'm taking are finally taking their toll.

If anyone has had a similar problem I would appreciate hearing from you. Especially if you solved the problem! Thanks – John

Frustration  Again

2/4/2015

I just checked my exercise log and I have not done a full workout in two weeks  As I mentioned earlier we're having our kitchen redone and I have been very distracted by all the activity which makes the day go by fast but doesn't leave me too much time to exercise. Frustration kicks in because I don't have the willpower to avoid the distractions and get back to my game. I guess I'll just have to kick myself in the butt and dig up some willpower to get back on track.

Another frustration is LinkedIn. I keep getting emails about my old colleagues having anniversaries and getting promotions or retiring on purpose! I can't help but think where I might be had I not been blindsided by my stroke. I don't know about the rest of you but this is frustrating as hell for me. I cannot accept that my working career is over. I know I can still do the work and as a matter of fact I have a consulting job last year that lasted three months and I thought I did pretty well remembering a lot of things from six years ago. I would like to try consulting again soon. But for now I will just have to accept this situation the way it is. As they say "it is what it is".

I hope those of you out there who also have these frustrations can find the strength to fight through them and get back on track again.
